These GEO examples show what it looks like when Google's AI names your business in its answer, and each one maps to a type of business you can copy it for.

GEO stands for generative engine optimisation, and it means making your business the name that Google AI, Gemini or ChatGPT gives when a buyer asks a question.

Here's the short version of what I show on screen in my video.

  • Google's AI Overview for "best geo expert" names me first.
  • AI Profit Boardroom ranks first for "best AI SEO community", and my free community ranks second.
  • The AI Overview for "best HARO agency" links my company, Goldie Agency, first out of five suppliers.
  • An AI answer recommends me for "who is the best Hermes AI SEO expert".

All of these are my own results, and they show what's possible rather than what's guaranteed.

On this page I'll show you which business each GEO example fits and how a real business would use the same playbook.

If you want to know which one fits you, book a free AEO SEO strategy session and get a custom game plan for your business.

The 4 GEO Examples And The Business Each One Fits

This table matches every GEO example to the kind of business that can copy it fastest.

# GEO example Business it fits best What the business publishes
1 best HARO agency A service business such as an agency, dentist, plumber or accountant. Helpful service pages plus consistent mentions on other sites.
2 best geo expert A consultant, freelancer or founder with a personal brand. Case studies from real tests with the same description everywhere.
3 best AI SEO community A creator selling a community, course or membership. A disclosed listicle that names their offer first.
4 who is the best Hermes AI SEO expert A specialist in a narrow niche. Content on several platforms that all point to the same answer.

I've ranked them by how directly each one turns into buyers for a typical small business.

The service business example comes first, because most readers here run one.

Why GEO Examples Matter To Your Bottom Line

Old SEO gave the buyer ten blue links.

If you were in position seven, you still picked up some clicks and some leads.

AI answers are different, because they usually give a short list of maybe one to three names.

There's no room for number seven anymore.

That's the business case for GEO in one line.

If the AI names your competitor and not you, the buyer may never know you exist.

The AI isn't picking names at random, though.

It reads the pages that rank and sums up what they say.

I compare it to five friends recommending the same restaurant.

If five good pages in the top ten all say the same name, the AI repeats that name.

Your job as a business owner is to make sure your name is the one those pages agree on.

Use Case 1: A Service Business Gets Named For "Best [Service]"

For "best HARO agency", Google's AI Overview lists five suppliers and links Goldie Agency first.

Goldie Agency also ranks first in the normal organic results for that search.

This is the GEO example I'd show any service business owner, because it's a normal business and not a celebrity brand.

The same idea can apply to a dentist, a plumber or an accountant.

How a service business uses it

Picture a dental practice that wants to be named for "best dentist in [their town]".

Here's how I'd apply the same playbook to that practice.

  • The practice publishes a page that answers the exact question in the first two lines and explains what makes it different.
  • It adds a real case study, such as how it handled a type of treatment and what the patient experience was, with permission.
  • It keeps its name, services and address identical across its website, directories and any local articles that mention it.
  • It publishes a disclosed "best dentists in [town]" style guide on a second property, with fair alternatives listed too.
  • It checks the AI Overview every couple of weeks and notes which pages the AI cites.

That's the same pattern behind my HARO agency example, translated into a local business.

Use Case 2: A Consultant Becomes "The Best [Topic] Expert"

When I searched "best geo expert", Google's AI Overview named me first.

It said I'm known for documenting GEO experiments, public testing and running optimisation communities.

Several of my pages appeared in its sources.

This is move one of my system, which is to be the source.

How a consultant uses it

A consultant's biggest asset is the work they've actually done.

Every test, project and result is a page waiting to be written.

  • A consultant writes one page per real project, explaining the problem, what they did and the result.
  • They describe themselves with the same specialism every time, so the AI sees one clear picture.
  • They publish their experiments in public, because that's exactly what the AI Overview quoted about me.
  • They run or join a community in their niche, since running optimisation communities was part of my description too.

The AI can't write about a test only you ran.

That's what makes a consultant's own case studies so powerful for GEO.

Here is a second video where I show the same ideas working inside Google's AI Mode.

Use Case 3: A Creator Ranks Their Community Or Course

For "best AI SEO community", my AI Profit Boardroom ranks first and my free community ranks second.

The AI Overview cites them more than once.

That article was made three days before I checked it ranking.

I'm sharing it as my own result, not as a timeline anyone can promise.

How a creator uses it

This GEO example relies on a listicle, which is a ranked "best of" article.

Listicles that name yourself as the best for the topic are one of the things working for me right now.

The non-negotiable part is the disclosure.

  • The creator writes a genuinely useful "best [topic] community" or "best [topic] course" list.
  • They put their own offer first and say clearly that it's their own list.
  • They include real alternatives so the list is honest and useful.
  • They publish versions on more than one site, each with a different angle.

If you'd feel awkward reading your own list aloud to a customer, rewrite it until you wouldn't.

Use Case 4: A Specialist Owns A Narrow Niche

When I asked "who is the best Hermes AI SEO expert", the AI answer recommended me.

It cited my content across multiple platforms.

That's move two of my system, which is to be everywhere.

How a specialist uses it

Narrow niches are where small businesses can win fastest.

There are fewer pages competing, so a handful of good ones can shape the whole answer.

  • The specialist picks one tool or method plus one use case they genuinely know.
  • They publish a main guide on their own site with a case study in it.
  • They add a video, a community post and an article on a second site, each from a different angle.
  • They make sure every piece points to the same answer about who the expert is.

In my video I call this "training the AI" with your content.

My article about using a Hermes agent for SEO automation is built on my own case studies, and that's the kind of page that feeds the AI.

Use Case 5: A Publisher Builds Traffic From AI Features

The examples so far are about being named, but some businesses care most about traffic.

One of my sites went from zero to about 1,300 Google clicks a day.

On one day, it got over 9,600 impressions inside Google's AI features.

Both numbers come from my own screens in the video.

I'll also tell you that one of my sites flopped.

That's why a publisher shouldn't put everything on one site.

The Answer Engine, Translated For A Business

I call my GEO system the answer engine.

It has three moves, which are be the source, be everywhere and be first.

Here's what each move looks like inside a normal business.

Move What it means What a business does each week
Be the source Every page carries a real case study or test result. The owner or team writes up one real job, project or test.
Be everywhere Several sites and platforms point to the same answer from different angles. The team republishes the story as a video, a community post and a second-site article.
Be first You publish within 24 hours of a new topic appearing. Someone watches for industry news and ships a page the same day.

Be the source

Every page I publish has a real case study on it.

For a business, that's the job you did last week, the problem you solved and the result.

Be everywhere

I run multiple websites with different angles that all point to the same answer.

That's how I can show up two to four times on page one for one search.

My subreddit, AI SEO Insider, ranks on page one as well.

It also protects you, because if one site drops you've still got the others.

Be first

I create content within 24 hours of a topic appearing.

When Jev AI dropped, I published on searches like "Jev architecture" and "Jev waitlist" that same weekend.

A business can do the same with a new regulation, a new product in its industry or a seasonal question.

Trust, Accuracy And Google's 1 October 2026 Update

Google updated its guidance on using generative AI content on 1 October 2026.

It says it's "critical to manually factcheck and review all AI-generated content" before publishing.

That review also covers titles, meta descriptions, structured data and image alt text.

Google explains that generative models predict likely words rather than retrieving facts, so they can get things wrong.

For a business, a wrong price or a wrong claim on a page can cost you a customer.

That's another reason the be-the-source move works, because your own case studies are things you can check.

Google also says on its AI features page that there are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode.

So the business that wins is usually the one with the most helpful, accurate and consistent pages, not the one with a trick.

What A Business Should Not Expect From GEO

I want you to go in with clear eyes.

  • Nobody can guarantee that an AI answer will name your business.
  • AI answers change, so you need to keep publishing and keep checking.
  • A listicle without a clear disclosure can damage trust with real customers.
  • Not every site works, and one of mine flopped.
  • GEO doesn't replace good service, because the AI repeats what other people say about you.

Two Ways To Get Help

You've got two options if you want help turning these GEO examples into results for your business.

The first is the free AEO SEO strategy session, which I also call a free one-to-one GEO, AEO AI audit.

It's a call where my team looks at your site, your competitors and the keywords you're closest to winning, then gives you a custom game plan.

It isn't a written report, so bring your questions.

The second is the AI Profit Boardroom.

You get my Agent OS, a search OS that finds GEO keywords from your own Search Console data, and my SEO skill.

I'm adding a manual fact-checking list after Google's October update.

There's also a zip, a video tutorial, a 30-day roadmap, four coaching calls a week and a member map with 3,400+ members.

FAQ: GEO Examples For Business

What is a good GEO example for a local business?

My best one is "best HARO agency", where Google's AI Overview lists five suppliers and links Goldie Agency first.

It's a normal service business, so the same playbook can apply to a dentist, a plumber or an accountant.

Why do GEO examples matter for a business?

AI answers usually name only one to three businesses, so there's no room for the seventh result that still got clicks in old SEO.

If you're not named, the buyer may never see you.

Can GEO bring real traffic?

In my video I show one of my sites going from zero to about 1,300 Google clicks a day, with over 9,600 impressions inside Google's AI features on one day.

That's my result, one of my sites flopped, and nobody can guarantee yours.

Is it OK to put my own business first in a best-of list?

Listicles that name yourself as the best for a topic are working for me, but I always disclose that it's my own list.

Fill the rest of the list with real alternatives so it reads as a fair ranking.

What is the answer engine?

The answer engine is what I call my GEO system.

It has three moves, which are be the source, be everywhere and be first.
