Grok Bot shopping is worth switching on for a small business only after you set one rule: the Bot asks you before every purchase.

xAI added the buying flow in v0.78.1 on October 27, 2026: the Bot shows products as cards, Buy now waits for your sign-off, and the parcel gets tracked to the door.

For an owner, that means the searching, comparing and chasing can move off your desk.

The money decision should stay with you.

The short answer for business owners

Yes, it's worth testing if you buy the same supplies often, juggle software trials, or lose track of orders and returns.

No, it's not worth it if nobody on your team will own the approval cards.

The tool is built around approvals, so someone has to be there to press Allow.

What the Bot does when you ask it to buy something

You type a request, such as "find printer paper in bulk from a store that ships this week."

The Bot returns cards with photos, rating, price and store, and up to two badges like Top rated.

You open a product, see the in-stock options first, and choose Buy now.

That starts an order you approve, per the changelog.

After your approval, the Bot watches that order and messages you when it leaves the warehouse and when it lands.

You see the carrier and the delivery stage right in the chat.

For digital orders, the order card drops the Ship to line, since nothing ships.

Which plans include Grok Bot

The X Subscription page for Grok Bot says it's included on Premium, Super and Ultra.

Plus doesn't include it.

If your team is on Plus, you'll need a higher plan before any of this shows up.

Use case: a local shop restocking the basics

Picture a cafe that reorders cups, lids and cleaning supplies every couple of weeks.

The owner sets up Deal Watcher, a template from v0.77.0 that watches prices and coupons.

When stock runs low, the owner asks the Bot to find the item, compare three stores and stop at the approval card.

Order Concierge, released in the same version, then keeps track of the order, any refund and any return.

Start with the three or four items you reorder most, and keep the first month to research and approvals only.

Once the shortlists look right, let the Bot move on to placing orders that you sign off.

The owner still decides.

The Bot does the tab-hopping and the tracking emails.

Use case: a service firm testing software

A small accounting or design firm tries a lot of software and forgets to cancel half of it.

v0.78.1 added a template called Try it, don't pay for it.

The changelog says it starts a free trial, then cancels it or reminds you before it bills.

A second template, Find unused subscriptions, goes after the ones nobody opens any more.

For a firm with five or six tools on the company card, that's one review job you can hand over.

The changelog says Bots confirm with you before changing anything.

Write the trial rule into Custom Rules too, so a sign-up never happens without a card on screen.

Then check the list the Bot gives back against your bank statement before you cancel anything.

Use case: an agency managing client purchases

An agency often buys domains, stock assets or tools on behalf of clients.

The risk there is buying with the wrong card or shipping to the wrong address.

The Vault docs let you add a hint to each saved entry, such as "Use for work purchases", and the Bot follows that hint when it chooses.

Set a hint per client contact entry, and the wrong address is far less likely to slip through.

The third subscription template, Watch subscription prices, suits agencies paying for many seats.

It keeps watch on what those subscriptions cost.

Keep one contact entry per client with the client's name in the nickname, so the Bot's choice is easy to check on the approval card.

Where the time comes back to you

Nobody has published a time-saved figure for this feature, and I won't invent one.

What you can count is the steps that leave your plate.

  • Searching several stores for the same item.
  • Typing the shipping address into every checkout, since contact info fills it in.
  • Checking tracking pages, since shipment cards come to you.
  • Remembering trial end dates.
  • Chasing returns and refunds through Order Concierge.

You keep the one step that matters: approving the spend.

The payment risk every owner needs to understand

Here's the part most posts skip.

The release notes promise approval at the order step, and v0.77.0 says "you still approve every purchase."

The approvals and security docs, though, say a saved card "fills in at checkout without a separate approval each time."

Those two statements cover different things, and the difference is where money can slip out.

My advice for any business: don't save a card in the Vault unless an Ask first rule covers every purchase.

When the Bot asks for a card with a Secure Form, leave Securely save to Bot's vault unchecked, and the card is used only in that chat.

If someone already saved a card, remove it in Settings, Vault.

A safer route is a connected wallet. The Pay for things docs say a Link account lets the Bot ask you to approve a one-time card for a single purchase, showing the merchant, items and total.

A purchase policy you can hand your team

Write it down before anyone connects a wallet.

  • Every purchase gets an Ask first rule. No exceptions.
  • Only the owner or office manager answers approval cards.
  • No card is saved in Vault. Use Shop Pay, X Money or Link.
  • Trials only start through the Try it, don't pay for it template.
  • Any denied card ends the task. The Bot doesn't retry until someone sends a new message.

The approvals page backs that last point: a denied action stays dropped until someone writes to the Bot again.

To add the rule, open Settings, General, under Bot, and use Custom Rules.

How the approval buttons work for a busy owner

Every approval card gives you a small set of choices, and one of them deserves caution.

Allow once lets the Bot go ahead this time and saves nothing.

Always allow does the action and also writes an Allow rule into your Custom Rules, so similar actions run on their own next time.

Deny stops the action outright.

For purchases, never press Always allow, because it quietly turns a one-off yes into a standing permission.

A card paused by one of your Ask first rules looks slightly different, with Allow and Not now buttons and an Edit rule link.

When a card comes from a chat you started, it waits for you with no timer.

Train whoever answers cards to read the target and the amount before tapping anything.

The Auto Review docs also warn against approving anything whose target or effect you can't name, so ask the Bot to explain first.

What the Bot can see and what stays private

Owners often worry about handing card details to an AI.

The design here keeps the sensitive numbers out of the conversation.

Stored card numbers and security codes go straight into the checkout page, and the Bot itself never reads them.

In Settings, Vault, your team will only ever see the last four digits of a saved card.

Contact info is different.

The Bot can read names, addresses, phone numbers and emails, because it needs them to fill shipping and billing forms.

It also knows which logins you saved, so it can pick the right one.

If a step needs a human, such as a bank card verification, the Bot hands you the computer: choose Take over, finish that step, and press I'm done.

Who in the business should own the Bot

Anything saved in Vault is open to all the Bots on that account.

You can't fence off a card or address for one Bot.

Shared Bots don't support Vault at all, and take keys under Secrets instead.

So keep the buying Bot on the owner's account and don't share it around the team.

One more owner-level detail: approval cards raised by routines or other background work expire after 30 minutes.

If no one is watching, the purchase simply doesn't happen.

When it's not worth it yet

  • You buy rarely and from one supplier you already have an account with.
  • Nobody will check approval cards during the working day.
  • Your team needs one shared buying Bot, since shared Bots can't use Vault.
  • Your plan is Plus.

In those cases, wait, and use the Bot for research first.

Ask it to compare products and stop before buying, which needs no payment setup at all.

A 7-day rollout for a small business

  1. Day 1: Confirm you're on Premium, Super or Ultra and update the app.
  2. Day 2: Add business contact info to Vault with clear hints.
  3. Day 3: Connect one wallet in the Payments tab and set it as the method Bots use first.
  4. Day 4: Add Ask first rules for purchases, trials and subscription changes.
  5. Day 5: Run a research-only request and read the product cards.
  6. Day 6: Approve one small, low-risk order and follow the shipment cards.
  7. Day 7: Run Find unused subscriptions and decide what goes.

FAQ: Is Grok Bot Shopping Worth It For A Small Business? Use Cases, Plans And The Payment Risk

Can my staff use one shared Grok Bot to buy supplies?

Not with Vault. Shared Bots don't support Vault, so saved logins, cards and addresses won't be there. Keep buying on the owner's own Bot.

Will Grok Bot cancel software my team still uses?

The changelog says Bots confirm with you before changing anything. Add an Ask first rule for subscription changes so every cancellation shows a card.

Which Grok Bot plan does a small business need for shopping?

Grok Bot is included on Premium, Super and Ultra. Plus doesn't include it.

Is it safe to save the company card in Grok Bot?

The docs say a saved card fills in at checkout without a separate approval each time. If you want every payment approved, use a wallet or a one-chat Secure Form instead.
