So this post explains what the marketplace is and how to set it up, then walks through how a business, an agency and a creator would use each plugin I showed in my video.

What Is The Hermes Agent Plugins Marketplace?

The Hermes Agent plugins marketplace is the catalog of add-ons for Hermes Agent and Hermes Desktop.

Nous Research launched it in mid-September 2026, and it lives on the official docs site at hermes-agent.nousresearch.com/docs/plugins.

In my video I said Hermes just got around 500 free plugins.

When I checked the curated catalog from my terminal on 7 October 2026, it listed 469 plugins, with 9 official and 460 built by the community.

Every listing shows stars, a category, the date it was added and last updated, a version where the author has tagged one, and a link to the GitHub code.

Each one also has an "Open in Hermes Desktop" button, which is the bit that makes this useful for busy people.

The Business Problem The Hermes Plugin Catalog Solves

Before the catalog, extending Hermes was a developer job.

You'd find a plugin in a forum thread, clone it in the terminal, edit config files and restart the app.

I once lost about three hours on GitHub trying to get a skill working, and it didn't even work at the end.

How To Set Up Your First Hermes Plugin For Work

Here's the setup flow from the video, written for someone who doesn't want to touch the terminal.

Open the plugin page in the catalog and read the README so you know what it does.
Click "Open in Hermes Desktop" and let the app open.
Choose where the plugin appears in the install dialog, such as in the desktop interface.
Look at the GitHub repository the dialog shows, so you know whose code you're running.
Choose which Hermes profile gets the plugin.
Click Install.

My tip for businesses is to create a separate profile for testing.

Use Case 1: Track Your Industry With Hermes Newswire

Hermes Newswire is a news ticker plugin for Hermes Desktop.

It puts a scrolling strip of headlines at the bottom of a new chat, so the news comes to you while you work.

You add topics and sources in its settings, and I searched for "Hermes agent" release notes as my first one.

You can add multiple sources, delete the ones that turn out to be noise and resize the ticker so it doesn't get in the way.

The settings also let you switch it on or off, change the speed between fast and slow, and pause it.

For an agency, this is a cheap way to keep the team aware of client industries without anyone doom-scrolling.

The catalog says Newswire uses zero API keys and zero model tokens, so it doesn't add a penny to your AI bill.

Use Case 2: Run Your Agent From Anywhere With Hermes Tailscale

Hermes Tailscale lets you connect to and control Hermes across multiple devices, such as your laptop and your phone.

For a business owner, that means your agent at the office is reachable when you're out with a client.

The plugin page shows the README, what the plugin does, what it's powered by and where it works.

It talks to the Tailscale app you already have, and its README says it doesn't need an admin API token.

There are manual install instructions too, but the one-click route is far quicker.

Use Case 3: Meet Customers Where They Already Are

The Platforms category connects Hermes to the places your customers and community hang out.

The WhatsApp agent platform plugin links Hermes to Meta's WhatsApp Agent Platform API.

Its page is upfront that it isn't affiliated with Meta or Nous Research and that those agent chats aren't end-to-end encrypted.

That's precisely the kind of detail a business must read before connecting anything that touches customer messages.

There's even a Minecraft gateway, which spawns a bot that joins a Minecraft server and relays chat between players and Hermes.

That sounds like a toy, but if you run a gaming community or a kids' coding club, it's a genuinely fun way to put an assistant in front of people.

Use Case 4: Give Research Jobs Live Web Data

Research is where most agencies get value from an agent first, and live search is the fuel.

The Brave Search plugin adds a brave_web_search tool and asks for your Brave Search API key during install.

The Ollama Cloud web search plugin adds search plus page extraction and reuses your Ollama API key.

The Web and Browser category also has browser add-ons, such as one that switches Hermes's browser tools to a named Chrome profile.

For client work, I'd keep research profiles separate from anything logged into client accounts.

Use Case 5: Turn Hermes Into A Voice Assistant

The voice plugins turn Hermes into something that feels like Jarvis.

You'll find Hermes Speech, Hermes Talk, Hermes Live Voice and a few others in the Voice category.

My advice is to install only one, and to pick the one with the most stars.

Hermes Speech had 196 stars when I checked, which made it the clear leader in that category.

For a busy founder, talking to your agent while you're walking between meetings is a real time-saver.

Some voice plugins ride on a ChatGPT or Codex subscription, and Hermes Talk's own page warns that one of its modes uses an undocumented endpoint, so read the README before you rely on it.

Use Case 6: Help Your Team Or Clients Find Work

The job search plugin is a hyper-personalised job finder.

You describe what matters in plain English, such as role scope or autonomy, and it filters postings against that instead of a few keywords.

Its README says it runs locally and writes digests on a schedule you control.

For a recruitment agency or a career coach, that's a neat way to show clients what an agent can do for them.

Use Case 7: See What Your Agents Are Doing With Hermes Office

Hermes Office gives your agents a visual office, and I called it Hermes Office 2 in the video.

You pick a bot by its nameplate, type a task and send it, and the task lands in that bot's chat.

Completed tasks earn a star, and bots that need input raise a hand.

If you run several Bot Mode agents for different clients, this makes it obvious who's busy and who's stuck.

The One Safety Check Every Business Must Do

This is the one thing I said you must check in the video.

Most plugins in the Hermes Agent plugins marketplace are made by the community, which means they could do things you don't want.

So read each plugin's GitHub repository and README before you install it.

Hermes adds its own layer too, because hermes plugins install runs a security scan and refuses anything it marks dangerous.

The Newswire README explains that the Desktop install refuses a "caution" result, while the terminal shows the findings and asks you to confirm.

For a business, I'd add one more rule, which is that nothing touches client data until it has run in a test profile for a few days.

Don't Install Everything

The catalog makes it so easy to install that people go wild.

That's a mistake, because every plugin is one more thing to update, one more thing to break and sometimes one more tool your model has to choose between.

Pick the two or three plugins that save your team time this week, and add more only when a real need shows up.
