Hermes Agent Browser Use means two things: Hermes Agent working with Browser Use, the open-source browser automation project, and Hermes Agent using a web browser to do jobs for your business.
The good news is that the first part is already done for you.
Browser Use is built into Hermes Agent as its default browser driver, so there is no plugin to find and no connector to wire up.
Hermes Agent is the free, open-source agent from Nous Research, and Browser Use is the MIT-licensed project behind github.com/browser-use/browser-use.
In this post I'll explain the integration in plain English, then walk through seven browser jobs a business owner, agency or creator can hand over.
I'll also cover what it costs, and the rules I'd set before any agent touches a page where you're logged in.
I checked every fact here against the official Hermes docs, Browser Use's docs and my own install on 12 October 2026.
I don't have income numbers from this workflow to show you, so you won't see any invented ones.
What Hermes Agent Browser Use Is, In Plain English
Think of it as two layers.
The first layer is the browser, which is the window where a web page loads.
The second layer is the driver, which is the pair of hands that clicks and types in that window.
Browser Use supplies the hands.
The official Hermes docs say Browser Use mode is the default browser driver, and that it works through one tool called browser_exec.
Instead of making one small move at a time, the agent writes a short script that does several steps in one go.
That is why it tends to be cheaper on long jobs with a strong model.
Browser Use also sells the window, if you want one.
Browser Use Cloud is a rented browser that runs on their servers, with stealth settings, residential proxies and CAPTCHA solving included.
| Piece | Who makes it | What it costs |
|---|---|---|
| Hermes Agent | Nous Research | It is free and open source. |
| Browser Use mode | Browser Use, built into Hermes | It is free with a local browser. |
| Browser Use Cloud | Browser Use | It is pay as you go, with no subscription. |
| Nous Subscription browser | Nous Research, running on Browser Use | It is billed against a paid Nous Portal plan. |
I checked whether a plugin or MCP connector was involved, because that is what most people assume.
The curated Hermes plugin catalog returned no entries for "browser-use", and the Hermes MCP catalog does not list Browser Use either.
Neither is needed, because the integration lives inside Hermes itself.

The Problem It Solves For A Business
Most business software has no clean way for an AI agent to plug in.
Your supplier portal, your booking system and your industry directory were all built for a person with a mouse.
A browser agent closes that gap, because it uses the same pages you do.
Here is what that removes from your week.
- It removes the copy-and-paste research that fills a spreadsheet one tab at a time.
- It removes the repeated checks on pages that rarely change.
- It removes the form filling that follows the same pattern every time.
- It removes the "can someone log in and look" messages to your team.
It does not remove the need for a human check.
I'll come back to that, because it is the part people skip.
How To Get It Running
The setup is short, and I've written the full operator version on my other site.
This is the business owner version.
- Install Hermes Agent, then run
hermes updateso you have a current build. - Run
hermes tools, open Browser Automation, and choose Local Browser, which is free. - Start a chat by typing
hermes, and ask it to open a public page and summarise it. - Add a Browser Use Cloud key later, and only if a site blocks your local browser.
For the cloud option, you create a key in the Browser Use dashboard and paste it into the same menu.
The Hermes docs explain that the key goes in a file as BROWSER_USE_API_KEY, and the menu choice decides which browser is active.
If you already pay for Nous Portal, you can pick the Nous Subscription row instead and skip the separate account.
I compare all the browser choices in my best browser for Hermes ranking.
7 Browser Jobs To Hand To Hermes Agent
These are jobs I'd give a browser agent in a real business.
Each one has a prompt you can adapt and the check I'd add.
I'm giving you starting points here, and I'm not claiming measured results.
1. Competitor And Pricing Research
Open the pricing page for each of these five competitors.
Build a table with plan names, monthly prices and the main limit on each plan.
Put the page address next to every row.
The address column is the check, because you can click through and confirm any number in seconds.
For pages that only need reading, the Hermes docs say web search and web extract are faster and cheaper than a browser.
Use the browser when a price hides behind a toggle, a tab or a scroll.
2. Lead List Checks
An agency often has a list of prospects and no idea which ones are still trading.
A browser agent can visit each site and report back.
Visit each website in this list.
Tell me whether the site loads, what the business sells, and whether there is a contact form.
You get a cleaner list before a human spends time on outreach.
Keep the outreach itself with a person, or with a tool built for it.
3. Form Filling Up To The Submit Button
Directory listings, supplier applications and partner sign-ups are slow and repetitive.
Open this directory's "add your business" page.
Fill in the form with the business details below.
Do not press submit.
Take a screenshot and show me the completed form.
Hermes does not ask before every click as far as I can tell from the docs, so the stop instruction is your approval step.
You look at the screenshot, and then you press the button yourself.
4. Logged-In Dashboard Checks
This is the job owners ask about most.
Hermes can browse with your logins through a setting called real profile browsing.
The docs say it copies your active Chrome profile into a managed snapshot and drives that copy in the background.
Open my analytics dashboard and report yesterday's visits and top three pages.
Do not change any settings.
Keep these tasks read-only.
If a site needs a password the agent doesn't have, Hermes asks you in a masked prompt.
The docs say the password is encrypted on your machine and filled into the page without the model seeing it.
5. Price And Page Monitoring
The Hermes docs mention a bundled skill called product-price-monitor as a worked example.
The pattern is a saved watch list, then one scheduled check that compares the page with last time and alerts you on a change.
That suits stock levels, competitor prices and policy pages.
A scheduled job has nobody to answer questions, so any login it needs must be saved in advance.
I cover scheduling in my Hermes Agent background guide.
6. Testing Your Own Website
Hermes can open a site running on your own computer and a public site in the same conversation.
The docs call this hybrid routing, and the cloud browser never sees your private address.
Open my staging site, click through the checkout as far as the payment page, and list any errors you see.
The older browser tools can also read the browser console, which catches silent JavaScript errors.
A creator can use the same idea to check every link on a new landing page before a launch.
7. Screenshot Reports To Your Phone
Hermes can run as a bot on Telegram, Discord, Slack and WhatsApp.
The docs say a browser screenshot can be sent to you as a normal photo in those chats.
So a morning check can arrive as a picture of the page along with a two-line summary.
One detail matters here.
The single browser_exec tool is only given to sessions that have terminal access, so a locked-down chat bot uses the older click-by-click tools instead.

Which Jobs Suit Which Setup
| Job | Browser to use | Logins needed? | Human check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Competitor research | A local browser is enough. | No | You spot-check the linked pages. |
| Lead list checks | A local browser is enough. | No | You review the list before outreach. |
| Form filling | A local browser in headed mode works well. | Sometimes | You press submit yourself. |
| Dashboard checks | Real profile browsing is the fit. | Yes | You keep the task read-only. |
| Page monitoring | A local or cloud browser both work. | Sometimes | You confirm the first few alerts. |
| Testing your site | A local browser is the fit. | No | You fix what it reports. |
| Screenshot reports | Any browser with screenshots works. | Sometimes | You read the summary against the picture. |
Headed mode is worth knowing about.
It opens a visible browser window and keeps it open between turns, so you can watch the agent work and step in when a site asks for something unusual.
What Hermes Agent Browser Use Costs
| Item | Published cost |
|---|---|
| Hermes Agent | It is free. |
| Local browser | It is free. |
| Browser Use Cloud session | It is $0.02 per browser-hour, metered by the minute. |
| Managed residential proxy | It is $5 per GB. |
| Direct or own-proxy traffic | It is $0.20 per GB. |
| AI model | It depends on the model you choose. |
Those cloud prices come from Browser Use's pricing page, which says there are no subscriptions and that top-up credits never expire.
The signup credit amount differed between two of their pages when I looked, so I'm not quoting it.
The model is usually the bigger bill.
A browser job involves many decisions in a row, and every decision is a model call.
Start with a small test, read your usage page, and scale from there.
Safety Rules I'd Set In Any Business
I treat a browser agent like a new hire on day one.
It gets limited access, clear instructions and a review.
- Start every agent on a clean browser profile, with no saved logins.
- Turn on real profile browsing only for the tasks that need it, and turn it off afterwards.
- Write "do not submit, send, book, pay or delete" into every task until you trust it.
- Keep payments with a human, even though Hermes asks before every card fill.
- Don't point it at pages full of customer data on a cloud browser until you have read the provider's data terms.
- Respect each site's terms, especially around automated access and CAPTCHAs.
Hermes helps with some of this.
Real profile browsing is off by default, and switching it off deletes the copied profile.
Hermes never closes your own browser without asking you first.
You can also give Hermes a list of websites it must never open.
The docs are honest about the gap, though.
Once a password is typed into a site, that site has it, exactly as when you type it yourself.
If you'd like help deciding where AI and SEO fit in your business, you can book a free SEO strategy session with my team.
Honest Limits
- A browser agent can report a job as done when it isn't, so check the result yourself.
- The older tools read pages as text, so image-heavy pages can trip them up.
- The docs list file downloads from the browser as unsupported for the built-in tools.
- CAPTCHA solving is part of Browser Use Cloud, but Browser Use says no setup can promise every challenge is solved.
- Cheap or small models often fail at Browser Use mode, because the agent has to write working code.
- Cloud sessions use credits, so a forgotten job can cost money.

Browser Use also publishes a separate project called Jev Ultrafast, which uses TypeSafe's Jev model to choose each click very quickly.
It is its own agent and it is not part of Hermes, and I explain it in my Jev Ultrafast GitHub post.
Browser Use has MCP servers too, including a hosted one that runs whole tasks for you.
Hermes can add custom MCP servers, but I haven't tested that pairing and you don't need it for anything on this page.

FAQ: Hermes Agent Browser Use
What is Hermes Agent Browser Use?
It is the built-in pairing of Hermes Agent and Browser Use.
Browser Use is the default browser driver inside Hermes, and Browser Use Cloud is a cloud browser provider Hermes supports.
In practice it means your agent can open pages, click, type, fill forms and pull information from websites.
Do I need to be technical to use it?
You need to be comfortable pasting a few commands into a terminal.
Once Hermes is installed, the browser choice is made in a menu that opens with the hermes tools command.
After that you give the agent instructions in normal English.
What browser jobs can Hermes Agent do for a business?
It can research competitor and pricing pages, check listings, fill forms up to the submit button, read dashboards you are logged into, and watch pages for changes.
It can also test your own website and send you screenshots through a messaging app.
You should keep a human on anything that pays, sends or deletes.
How much does Hermes Agent Browser Use cost?
Hermes Agent is free, and local browsing is free.
Browser Use lists its cloud browsers at $0.02 per browser-hour with managed residential proxies at $5 per GB.
You also pay for the AI model unless you choose a free or local one.
Is it safe to let Hermes use my logged-in accounts?
It can be, if you set limits.
Real profile browsing is switched off by default, and the Hermes docs describe it as a convenience and not a security boundary.
Start with read-only tasks, and never let the agent finish a payment on its own.
Can Hermes Agent make purchases in the browser?
Hermes can fill saved card details, but the docs say every card fill asks you first.
Sessions with nobody present, such as scheduled jobs, are refused.
My advice is to do the final payment click yourself every time.
