Hermes Meshy is the official Meshy plugin for Hermes Agent, and it lets a business turn a sentence or a product photo into a 3D model the agent can texture, animate, convert and prepare for printing.
Nous Research packages the plugin, and Meshy AI writes the MCP server that does the 3D work.
You install it with hermes plugins install meshy, and it needs a Meshy API key, Node.js 18 or newer and Hermes 0.22.3 or newer.
The plugin is free and MIT licensed, but the 3D work spends Meshy credits, and the README says Meshy API keys need a Pro plan or above.
The Nous plugin catalog lists it as an Official plugin that was added on 21 October 2026.
I covered it in my video, but I haven't run it on my own machine yet, so the setup and limits below come from Nous's catalog page, the plugin README and Meshy's own docs.
This page is about how a business, an agency or a creator would actually put it to work.
The Business Jobs Hermes Meshy Fits
This table is the short answer to "what would I actually use it for?"
| Business job | Hermes Meshy tools involved | What you end up with |
|---|---|---|
| Game and app props | meshy_text_to_3d, meshy_text_to_3d_refine, meshy_remesh |
You get a textured model at a polygon count your engine can handle. |
| Product models from photos | meshy_image_to_3d, meshy_multi_image_to_3d |
You get a 3D version of a real product from one to four photos. |
| Client concept approval | meshy_text_to_image, meshy_image_to_image |
You get 2D concepts a client can approve before you spend credits on 3D. |
| Animated characters for content | meshy_rig, meshy_animate, meshy_text_to_motion |
You get a rigged character with preset or text-described motion. |
| 3D printing and print products | meshy_analyze_printability, meshy_repair_printability, meshy_process_multicolor, meshy_auto_split, meshy_creative_lab |
You get a print-ready file, including multicolour 3MF and split parts. |
| Replacement parts | meshy_image_to_3d, meshy_resize, meshy_send_to_slicer |
You get a real-size part handed straight to your slicer. |
All of these run from a normal Hermes chat, and every paid step asks for your approval first.
What Hermes Meshy Is, In Plain English
Hermes Meshy connects Hermes Agent to Meshy, which is an AI 3D generation platform made by Meshy AI.
One install gives you two things.
The first is Meshy's own MCP server, pinned to @meshy-ai/meshy-mcp-server@0.6.5, which Hermes starts for every new session while the plugin is on.
The second is a workflow skill called meshy-3d, which teaches the agent Meshy's rules, like confirming costs and choosing the output format before it starts.
Together they add 28 tools to Hermes, covering generation, editing, characters, printing and account checks.
The point I made in the video is the one that matters for a business owner.
Making 3D models used to mean hiring someone who knew Blender, or learning it yourself over months.
Now the skill is knowing what to ask for, and the agent handles the steps.

Who Makes Hermes Meshy And What It Costs
Nous Research, the team behind Hermes Agent, packages the plugin and writes the skill under the MIT licence.
Meshy AI writes the MCP server, which lives at meshy-dev/meshy-mcp-server and is also MIT licensed.
The plugin costs nothing to install, but the 3D work is paid for in Meshy credits.
| Cost item | What the official pages say |
|---|---|
| The plugin | It is MIT licensed and free to install from the Nous catalog. |
| The API key | The README says Meshy API keys need a Pro plan or above. |
| Credits per call | The README says most Meshy tools spend 5 to 62 credits per call. |
| Pro plan credits | Meshy's pricing page said on 23 October 2026 that Pro includes 1,000 credits a month and API access. |
| A text-to-3D preview | Meshy's API pricing page listed 20 credits for a mesh-only preview on its latest model on 23 October 2026. |
| An image-to-3D model with 2K textures | Meshy's API pricing page listed 30 credits on its latest model on 23 October 2026. |
Meshy's API pricing docs also say the API uses prepaid credits that you buy in your subscription settings.
I'm not quoting money prices, because Meshy shows them in your local currency and they move.
The Problem Hermes Meshy Solves For A Business
Before this, a small business that needed a 3D model had three options, and none of them were quick.
You could hire a 3D artist, learn Blender yourself, or use a web tool and move files around by hand.
Hermes Meshy turns that into a conversation, where you describe the thing, approve the cost and download the file.
Because it runs inside Hermes, the same agent that writes your emails or manages your tasks can now hand you a model too.
How To Get Hermes Meshy Running
The setup is short, and these are the exact commands from the README.
hermes plugins install meshy # from the Nous plugin catalog
hermes plugins enable meshy
Next you create an API key at meshy.ai under Settings and API.
In Hermes Desktop, you paste the key into Settings, then Plugins, then Meshy, and press Save.
Without Desktop, the README gives you this route.
hermes config set MESHY_API_KEY msy_... # writes the profile's .env
If you use Desktop, turn on the plugin's Desktop switch under Capabilities and Plugins, because that unlocks the 3D cards and the gallery.
My Hermes Agent plugins marketplace guide covers how catalog plugins slot into a profile if this is your first one.
Use Case 1: Game And App Props On Demand
The README's own starter prompt is "Make a low-poly treasure chest for Godot."
That's a real job for an indie studio or an app developer who needs props fast.
Text to 3D works in two stages, which suits a business well.
meshy_text_to_3d makes an untextured preview first, and meshy_text_to_3d_refine textures it only after you approve the preview.
That means you don't pay to texture a model you were never going to use.
If the polygon count is too high for your engine, meshy_remesh changes the count or the topology.
If you just need a different file type, the tool reference says meshy_convert is the cheaper route for a format-only change.
Use Case 2: Product Models From Photos
The second starter prompt in the README is "Turn ~/photos/mug.jpg into a 3D model and get it ready to print at 10 cm."
For a shop selling physical products, that's a product photo turned into a 3D model.
meshy_image_to_3d works from one image and textures it by default.
meshy_multi_image_to_3d takes one to four views of the same object, which the tool reference says gives a better reconstruction.
A refined model downloads as GLB, FBX, OBJ with its .mtl and texture, STL or USDZ, so it fits most tools a team already uses.
Those downloads cost no extra credits, because Meshy made every format at generation time.

Use Case 3: Concept Images A Client Approves First
Agencies and freelancers live and die on client approvals, and this is where the image tools help.
meshy_text_to_image makes a 2D image from text, and the tool reference describes it as a design for the user to approve before 3D.
meshy_image_to_image edits or restyles an image with a text prompt.
So the workflow is concept first, client sign-off second and the 3D model third.
In Hermes Desktop, image previews let you switch views, download one image or the whole set, and send the next step back to chat.
The "Made from" panel in the gallery keeps the prompt, the settings, the seed and the credits for each model.
That history is gold when a client says "can we go back to the version from Tuesday?"
Use Case 4: Animated Characters For Content
Creators who make short videos or game trailers can use the character tools.
meshy_rig auto-rigs a humanoid character for animation.
meshy_animate gives a rigged character a preset action, and meshy_list_animations looks up those presets for free.
meshy_text_to_motion makes a motion clip from a text description.
The tool reference notes that motion clips are kept for three days, which matches the general rule that Meshy's API assets expire after three days.
So the habit to build is simple, which is to download every clip you plan to use on the day you make it.
Use Case 5: 3D Printing And Print Products
This is the use case that excites me most, because it ends with something physical you can sell or use.
| Printing tool | What it does for a print business |
|---|---|
meshy_analyze_printability |
It checks whether a model is watertight, manifold and free of holes before you print. |
meshy_repair_printability |
It fixes common printing faults and makes the model watertight. |
meshy_process_multicolor |
It turns a textured model into a multicolour 3MF ready for your printer's slicer. |
meshy_auto_split |
It cuts a model into parts when it's too big for the bed or needs different colours. |
meshy_send_to_slicer |
It detects the slicers you have installed and hands the file over. |
meshy_creative_lab |
It turns a photo into a finished Creative Lab product model. |
Meshy's API docs list Creative Lab products such as keychains, fridge magnets, figures, lamps and keycaps.
For a small print shop, that's a menu of products you can make from a customer's photo.
Use Case 6: Replacement Parts From A Photo
The example from my video that sticks with people is the broken cupboard knob.
You take a photo of the broken part, ask Hermes to model it, and then ask it to get the part ready to print.
meshy_resize rescales a model to its real-world size, which is what makes a replacement part actually fit.
Then the printability tools check it and the slicer handoff sends it to your printer software.
For a handyman business or a maker space, that's a new service built on a chat.
How To Keep Meshy Credits Under Control
Credits are the running cost, so a business owner should understand the guard rails.
The plugin marks Meshy's server as untrusted, so Hermes asks before every create, download or cancel.
Each prompt offers Allow once, Allow for this session or Deny, and it shows the estimated cost on Hermes builds that support MCP tool costs.
A 200-credit limit per chat makes Hermes ask again when a chat would pass it.
Read-only checks such as meshy_check_balance run without a prompt and cost nothing.
meshy_list_usage lists finished API tasks with the credits each one used, which the tool reference says helps you break spend down per endpoint or API key.
If several people share one Meshy account, that usage breakdown is how you see who spent what.
The Limits A Business Owner Should Know
These limits come from the README and Meshy's docs, and none of them are deal-breakers if you plan for them.
| Limit | What it means for your business |
|---|---|
| Meshy's API files normally expire after three days. | You need a habit of downloading finished models straight away. |
| Paid calls are refused in cron jobs and gateways with no approver. | You can't batch-generate models unattended overnight. |
| API keys need a Pro plan or above. | You need a paid Meshy plan before the plugin is any use. |
| Prompts and images go to Meshy's API under your key. | You need client permission before sending their photos. |
| The server runs locally through Node.js. | Every machine that uses it needs Node.js 18 or newer. |
Meshy's API quickstart says it keeps files for 3 days on every plan except Enterprise.

My Three Takeaways On Hermes Meshy For Business
First, agents can now make physical things, which opens up products and services that a chat agent couldn't touch before.
Second, the safety is built in, because every paid call waits for your yes and each chat has a spend limit.
Third, the gallery remembers how you made every model, so save the files your clients like before they expire.
