The best Hermes Agent VPS for a small business is the Hostinger KVM 2, which gives you 2 vCPU and 8GB of RAM for $8.99 a month on promo with a one-click Hermes template.
Hermes Cloud is my pick if nobody on your team wants to look after a server, and Oracle Cloud's Always Free tier is the pick if your budget is zero.
I'm going to treat this like a business decision, because that's what it is.
You are choosing where an AI worker lives, what it costs each month and who fixes it when it breaks.
I checked every price in this post on the provider's own pricing page on 10 October 2026.
I run Hermes daily on my own Mac and I've deployed Hermes Cloud, but I haven't run Hermes on every server below, so the VPS ranking leans on published specs, published prices and the official Hermes docs.
The Best Hermes Agent VPS: Top 3 At A Glance
- 🥇 Hostinger KVM 2 is the best value for a business that wants a real server with very little setup.
- 🥈 Hermes Cloud is the best choice for owners who want an always-on agent and no server to maintain.
- 🥉 Oracle Cloud Always Free is the best choice when the hosting budget is zero and you have someone technical.
Why A Business Puts Hermes Agent On A VPS
Hermes Agent is the free, open-source AI agent from Nous Research.
It runs on your laptop just fine, but a laptop goes to sleep.
A server doesn't, and that is the whole reason this keyword exists.
Here are the jobs that only work properly when the agent is always on.
- A morning briefing can only arrive at 7am if something is awake at 7am to send it.
- A Telegram or Slack assistant for your team needs to answer when your own computer is shut.
- Scheduled reports, such as a weekly Search Console summary, need a machine that never misses the schedule.
- Lead or inbox triage is only useful if it runs while you're in meetings or asleep.
Hermes has natural-language scheduling and a messaging gateway built in, so the server's job is simply to keep those two things running.
If none of those jobs matter to you yet, you don't need a VPS, and I'll explain the cheaper routes further down.
How I Ranked The Hosts For Business Use
I ranked on the things an owner cares about.
The first factor is the real monthly cost, including the renewal price where the provider shows one.
The second factor is how much of your time, or a contractor's time, the setup eats.
The third factor is whether the plan has enough memory to run Hermes with its browser tools.
The fourth factor is the risk you take on, such as a free server being reclaimed.

The 7 Best Hermes Agent VPS Options For A Business (Ranked)
1. Hostinger KVM 2 is the best value with the least setup
The KVM 2 plan has 2 vCPU, 8GB of RAM and 100GB of NVMe storage.
The Hostinger VPS page listed it at $8.99 a month on promo and $14.99 a month on renewal on 10 October 2026.
The promo rate is paid upfront, so read the term before you buy.
Hostinger's own Hermes Agent cost guide says its template installs Hermes Agent in one click, and it recommends 2 vCPU and 8GB of RAM for a stable Docker deployment.
Best for: a small business or agency that wants a proper server without a long setup.
Price: $8.99 a month promo, then $14.99 a month.
2. Hermes Cloud is the best option with no server at all
Hermes Cloud is run by Nous Research, the same team that builds Hermes.
Nous says setup takes two clicks and about 60 seconds.
The Standard size is $0.51 a day while running, with 2GB of RAM, 2 vCPUs and 10 concurrent sessions.
The Pro size is $0.99 a day while running, with 4GB of RAM, 4 vCPUs and 20 concurrent sessions.
A stopped agent costs $0.03 a day, and inference and tool usage are billed separately.
You need a $2 minimum credit balance or an active Nous subscription to deploy.
Best for: owners who want the result and never want to hear the word SSH.
Price: about $15.30 for 30 days of Standard running non-stop, plus model usage.
3. Oracle Cloud Always Free is the best free server
Oracle's Always Free tier includes Arm compute that Oracle describes as equivalent to 2 OCPUs and 12GB of memory for Always Free tenancies.
That is more memory than most paid starter plans.
The business risk is that Oracle can reclaim an Always Free instance it considers idle over a 7-day period.
I wouldn't put a client-facing agent on a server that can disappear without a backup plan.
Best for: testing, side projects and owners with a technical person on hand.
Price: free within the Always Free limits.
4. Hetzner Cloud is a solid European option
Hetzner Cloud is a well-known European provider with data centres in Germany and Finland, plus US and Singapore locations.
Its CPX22 plan lists 2 vCPU, 4GB of RAM and 80GB of NVMe storage.
The prices did not load for me on 10 October 2026, so check current pricing on Hetzner's own page.
Best for: businesses that want their server in a European data centre.
Price: check current pricing.
5. DigitalOcean is the easiest dashboard to learn
DigitalOcean's Basic Droplets cost $12 a month for 2GB of RAM and $24 a month for 4GB of RAM with 2 vCPUs.
You pay more per gigabyte than the others, and you get a very clear interface in return.
Best for: owners doing the setup themselves for the first time.
Price: $12 to $24 a month.
6. Contabo gives you the most RAM for the money
Contabo's Cloud VPS 4 has 4 vCPU, 8GB of RAM and 100GB of SSD from €4.40 a month.
Contabo states that this is the effective monthly rate on a 24-month subscription.
Best for: businesses happy to commit for two years to get a low price.
Price: from €4.40 a month on a 24-month term.
7. Vultr is worth a look if you already use it
Vultr's pricing page blocked my check on 10 October 2026, so I can't quote a plan I've actually seen.
Check current pricing on Vultr's site and compare it against the plans above.
Best for: teams that already have infrastructure on Vultr.
Price: check current pricing.

What It Really Costs To Run Hermes Agent 24/7
Most people budget for the server and forget the model.
The server keeps Hermes awake, and the model does the thinking.
Here is the honest shape of the bill.
| Cost line | Lowest-cost route | Paid route |
|---|---|---|
| Server | $0 on Oracle Always Free | $8.99 to $24 a month on the hosts above |
| Model | $0 on a free model | Pay-as-you-go API spend, or a plan |
| Your time | A manual setup takes the longest | A one-click template or Hermes Cloud takes the least |
Nous Portal's free plan is $0 and gives you free models only.
Its Plus plan is $20 a month and includes $22 of monthly credits.
Free models change over time and get rate limited at busy hours, so I wouldn't run paying client work on them.
I walked through a free brain in my Solar Mini 4 and Hermes post, which is a good way to test before you spend anything.
There are also managed third-party hosts that bundle the server and the model.
One of them, FlyHermes, listed $49 a month, or $39 a month billed annually, as a launch offer on its site on 10 October 2026, and I covered it in my best Hermes VPS post on the AI Profit Boardroom blog.
It's an independent service and isn't run by Nous Research.

What Size Server Does Your Business Actually Need?
You almost certainly need a smaller server than you think.
When the model is an API, the server only runs the Hermes process, the gateway and the tools.
The official docs don't publish a minimum RAM figure, and the Hermes README says it can run on a $5 VPS.
Nous gives its own smallest Hermes Cloud instance 2GB of RAM and 2 vCPUs, so I use 2GB as the floor.
I'd choose 4GB to 8GB if the agent will browse websites, because the installer adds a Chromium browser tool by default.
A local model on the server is a different purchase entirely.
A normal VPS has no GPU, so a local model that is smart enough for agent work will run far too slowly.
If you want local models, keep them on your own machine and read my best Hermes Agent model ranking.
Which Hermes Agent VPS Fits Your Type Of Business?
| Your situation | What I'd pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A solo creator testing agents | Oracle Always Free or your own Mac | You risk nothing while you learn. |
| A small business with no technical staff | Hermes Cloud | Nobody has to maintain a server. |
| An agency running agents for the team | Hostinger KVM 2 | You get 8GB of RAM and a fixed bill. |
| A business with EU data concerns | Hetzner in a European location | You choose where the server lives. |
| An owner who only works at a desk | No VPS at all | Your Mac is enough until you need 24/7. |
How To Set Up Hermes On An Oracle VPS (The Short Version)
A viewer asked me how to do this, so here is the short version you can hand to whoever does your technical work.
- Create a compute instance in the Oracle Cloud console with a Canonical Ubuntu image and the VM.Standard.A1.Flex shape set to 2 OCPUs and 12GB.
- Save the SSH key the console gives you and connect with
ssh -i your-key ubuntu@YOUR_SERVER_IP. - Run
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -yto patch the server. - Create a separate user for the agent with
sudo adduser --disabled-password --gecos "" hermesand switch to it withsudo -iu hermes. - Install Hermes with
curl -fsSL https://hermes-agent.nousresearch.com/install.sh | bashand then runsource ~/.bashrc. - Run
hermes setupto choose your model andhermes doctorto check that nothing is missing. - Run
hermes gateway setupto connect Telegram with a BotFather token, and setTELEGRAM_ALLOWED_USERSto your own Telegram user ID. - Run
hermes gateway installandhermes gateway start, then runsudo loginctl enable-linger hermesfrom theubuntuuser so the service survives a logout.
Telegram works by polling, so the server only makes outbound requests and you don't open any inbound ports.

Security Basics Before You Give An Agent Client Data
An agent on a server can run commands, so treat it like a new member of staff with a login.
- The agent should run as its own non-root user with no sudo rights.
- You should log in with SSH keys and never with a password.
- The firewall should allow SSH and nothing else.
- The gateway should only accept your own user IDs, which is its default behaviour.
- API keys belong in the Hermes environment file on the server and nowhere else.
- You should run
hermes backupon a schedule, because it zips the whole Hermes home for you. - You should run
hermes updateregularly so you get security fixes.
If you want private access to the dashboard without opening a port, Tailscale puts the server on your own private network.
VPS Vs Local Mac Vs Hermes Cloud For A Business
| Route | Monthly cost | Who maintains it | When I'd choose it |
|---|---|---|---|
| A VPS | A fixed server bill plus the model | You or a contractor | You want control and a predictable bill. |
| A local Mac | No hosting bill | You | You build and test at a desk and want local models. |
| Hermes Cloud | $0.51 to $0.99 a day running, plus the model | Nous Research | You want it live today with no admin. |
I build on a Mac and I only reach for a server when a job has to run while I'm away.
Plenty of businesses never need more than the Mac route, and my free Hermes Agent OS post covers that setup.
If you're choosing your whole stack, my best Hermes Agent setup ranking is the next thing to read.
