The best UI for Hermes Agent in my own business is my Agent OS, which is the single dashboard where Hermes, Claude and my other agents share one memory.

It is my own product, so please weigh that before you trust my ranking.

Hermes Desktop is the best free pick for any business, and Herald OS is third for owners who want the nicest screen.

Below, I explain what each interface is, then I match all seven to the way owners, agencies and creators actually work.

Top 3 Picks At A Glance

  • 🥇 Agent OS is the best UI for Hermes Agent in my business, because every agent shares one dashboard and one memory, and it is my own product inside the AI Profit Boardroom.
  • 🥈 Hermes Desktop is the best free pick for owners and teams, because it is official, stable and needs no terminal.
  • 🥉 Herald OS is the best-looking pick, with Spaces that suit people who juggle several clients, although it is still an alpha.

What A UI For Hermes Agent Is, In Plain English

Hermes Agent is a free, open-source AI agent made by Nous Research.

It can use tools, run scheduled jobs, remember what it learns and answer you on messaging apps.

On its own, Hermes lives in a terminal, which is a black window where you type commands.

A UI for Hermes Agent is a friendly screen on top of that same agent.

Every screen on this list talks to the same Hermes underneath, so your memory, skills and scheduled jobs follow you from one to the next.

That means a business can start on a free screen today and move later without losing any work.

The Business Problem A Good UI Solves

Most owners I speak to do not have an agent problem.

They have a tab problem.

Claude is open in one window, Hermes is in another, the notes live somewhere else, and nothing remembers what the business does.

In my Agent OS build guide I quote a Harvard Business Review study from August 2022, which found that workers toggled between apps about 1,200 times a day.

That study put the cost at just under four hours a week spent reorienting.

A good interface gives some of that time back in three ways.

It puts the agent somewhere your team will actually open.

It shows you what is running, so work does not quietly stall.

It keeps the business context in one place, so nobody explains the company twice.

I judged every interface below against those three jobs.

Why I Rank My Own Agent OS First This Time

I have already published my earlier ranking of the free Hermes UIs, and Hermes Desktop won it.

I kept my Agent OS out of that list, because the list was about free downloads and I did not think it was fair to rank my own product among them.

This post asks a different question, which is what I actually run my business on.

The honest answer is the Agent OS, so I have put it first and told you it is mine.

Hermes Desktop is still the best free answer, and nothing in the older ranking has changed.

How I Ranked The Best UI For Hermes Agent For Business Use

I asked four questions about each interface.

Does it reduce the number of windows a working day needs?

Could a non-technical team member use it on day one?

Is it stable enough to trust with daily work?

What does it really cost once you add the model behind it?

These are my own judgements from running a business on these tools, and they are not measured tests.

Match The Interface To The Way You Work

If You're A Solo Owner Starting Today

You should start with Hermes Desktop.

You download it, pick a model and start chatting, and the settings, scheduled jobs and skills are a click away.

It costs nothing, and it is the official app, so it is the safest first step.

If You Run Hermes Next To Claude Or Other Agents

This is where my Agent OS earns its place.

My heaviest work runs through Claude Code, including the SEO content I publish across five websites.

Hermes is my long-runner, because I can give it a big goal and walk away while it works.

Before the Agent OS, those two lived in separate windows with separate memories.

Now each agent is a page in one app, and they all read the same vault of business notes before they start.

If You Run An Agency With Several Clients

You should look hard at Herald OS and at profiles.

Herald OS has Spaces, which start as Ideas, Work and Personal, and you can add a space for each client.

In my Agent OS, every Hermes profile shows up as a chip in the chat, and each chip is one persona with its own model, memory and rules.

Either route keeps one client's context away from another's.

If You Work On The Move

You should add a browser route.

Hermes WebUI and Hermes Workspace both run in a browser, so the agent on your office machine is reachable from your phone.

My Agent OS does the same through Tailscale, which is free and builds a private network only your own devices can see.

If You Want Work To Finish While You're Away

You should use a board instead of a chat.

In my Agent OS, I drop cards on a kanban board, such as drafting an outline, checking indexing and pulling this week's numbers.

Agents pick the cards up, and I come back to finished work in the done column with notes explaining what happened.

Hermes Workspace gives you a free kanban board for Hermes alone, and I have used that one as an AI to-do list.

The 7 Best UI Options For Hermes Agent, Ranked

1. Agent OS (My Own Product)

The Agent OS is one local dashboard where all my AI agents live, share one memory and keep working while I'm away from the desk.

It opens on Mission Control, which shows the live status of every agent and what happened since I last looked.

Hermes sits behind thirteen rooms in it, including chat, voice, tickets, outreach and memory.

I can type, say "hey Hermes" out loud or file a ticket, and the same agent answers with the same memory.

Every exchange saves into my Obsidian vault, which is a folder of plain text files on my own machine.

Best for: It is best for owners who run more than one agent and want one screen for all of them.

Cost: It is included with AI Profit Boardroom membership, and it is not on public GitHub.

How to get it: You join the AI Profit Boardroom, download the zip and follow the install video.

Honest limit: It is my own product, and it is more than a solo owner with one agent needs on day one.

I explain where it lives and why in my post on the Agent OS and GitHub.

2. Hermes Desktop

Hermes Desktop is the official native app from Nous Research for macOS, Windows and Linux.

It shares its config, keys, sessions, skills and memory with the command line, and it gives you chat, a preview rail, a file browser, voice, cron and profiles.

It also has a plugin marketplace with around 500 free community plugins.

Best for: It is best for owners and teams who want a free, stable start.

Cost: It is free and open source.

How to get it: You download it from the Hermes Desktop page, or you run hermes desktop if Hermes is already installed.

Honest limit: It only runs Hermes, and voice permissions were hit and miss on my Mac when I tested them in June.

3. Herald OS

Herald OS is a full-screen agent operating system with Hermes as the interface, built by an independent developer called Luke The Dev.

Its dashboard greets you, shows today's schedule and offers a "Pick up where you left off" card.

It has Spaces, Missions, Memory, Files and Automations, and I honestly think it looks nicer than Hermes Desktop.

Best for: It is best for multi-client operators who care how the screen looks.

Cost: It is free and MIT licensed.

How to get it: You install Hermes first, then download the build from the Herald OS releases page.

Honest limit: It is an alpha, and the Connections page did not sync on my machine.

My tour is in my Herald OS guide.

4. Hermes WebUI

Hermes WebUI is a community browser app by nesquena with sessions on the left, chat in the middle and files on the right.

Best for: It is best for owners who want their agent on a phone.

Cost: It is free and MIT licensed.

How to get it: You clone the Hermes WebUI repository and run its bootstrap script.

Honest limit: You have to secure remote access yourself, usually with an SSH tunnel or Tailscale.

5. Hermes Workspace

Hermes Workspace is a community command centre by outsourc-e with chat, files, memory, skills, a terminal and a kanban board.

Best for: It is best for small teams who want a free task board for Hermes.

Cost: It is free and MIT licensed.

How to get it: You run the one-line installer from the Hermes Workspace repository, and it needs Node 22 or later.

Honest limit: It needs the Hermes gateway and dashboard running behind it, so setup takes longer.

6. The Terminal And The TUI

The terminal is the original Hermes interface, and hermes --tui opens the modern terminal UI.

Best for: It is best for developers and for agents on a remote server.

Cost: It is free, because it ships with Hermes.

How to get it: You install Hermes and type the command.

Honest limit: Most team members will not open it, which is the reason the other six exist.

7. Hermes3D (Unofficial, And Untested By Me)

Hermes3D is a 3D virtual office for AI agents by LukeTheDev, and it is an independent community project that Nous Research does not make.

I have not installed it, so I am describing its GitHub README and not my own experience.

The README describes a live 3D office where you watch agents collaborate, run standups and review pull requests, with a lighter 2D pixel office as an option.

Best for: It may be best for teams who want to watch a fleet of agents, after they have tested it.

Cost: It is free and MIT licensed.

How to get it: You clone the Hermes3D repository and run it with Node.js 20 or later, and it does not install Hermes for you.

Honest limit: It has one release from August 2026 and no pushes since late August, so check the repo for activity before you rely on it.

My docs-based explainer is in the Hermes3D guide.

What Each UI For Hermes Agent Really Costs

Interface Cost of the interface Who it suits Stable enough for daily work?
Agent OS Included with AI Profit Boardroom membership Owners running several agents Yes, I run my own business on it.
Hermes Desktop Free Owners and teams Yes, it is the official app.
Herald OS Free Multi-client operators Not yet, because it is an alpha.
Hermes WebUI Free Mobile owners Yes, with safe remote access.
Hermes Workspace Free Small teams Yes, with some setup.
Terminal and TUI Free Developers Yes, it is the original.
Hermes3D Free Curious teams I have not tested it, so I can't say.

The interface is rarely the real cost.

The real cost is the AI model you connect, because Hermes needs a model provider such as Nous Portal, OpenRouter, OpenAI or Anthropic.

People often assume that running several agents burns a fortune in tokens.

In my setup the everyday work runs on a free local model and free APIs, and the heavy jobs use the subscriptions I already pay for.

You can read how to keep Hermes itself at zero cost in my free Hermes Agent OS breakdown.

How I Actually Use Hermes Inside The Agent OS

These are real jobs from my own setup, as shown in my live guides.

The Morning Competitor Report

I have a named Hermes agent called Oracle.

Its job is to check competitors' sites and news each morning and write a short report into the vault.

I read that report instead of opening ten tabs.

Talking Instead Of Typing

The voice room is called Apollo, and the wake word is "hey Hermes".

I ask what is on my board while I make coffee, and the answer comes back out loud in about five seconds.

The same answer is written into the chat thread, so nothing lives in a separate voice app.

Tickets That Build Things

I dropped three build tickets on the board for my Hermes guide, which were a landing page, a content kanban app and an analytics dashboard.

Hermes workers moved all three to done on free models, so the bill for those builds was zero.

Admin Without A Terminal

The Manage room holds the full Hermes dashboard, with every session, model, cron job and skill.

When that guide was recorded, it showed 1,018 saved sessions.

That is the built-in Hermes admin panel, and I compare every option like it in my Hermes Agent dashboards roundup.

A Memory That Outlives The Model

The vault passed 1,200 memories in its first month.

When I open a fresh chat with any agent, it already knows the goal I set on Monday.

I have swapped models several times, and nothing had to be rebuilt.

How A Business Should Roll One Out

Pick one interface for the whole team, and make it Hermes Desktop unless you already run several agents.

Connect one model and send a small test job before any real work.

Do each task by hand with the agent first, then save it as a repeatable workflow, and only then automate it.

People who skip straight to full automation get poor output and blame the AI.

Create a separate profile or space for each client before you add their information.

Leave approval prompts on, so the agent asks before it sends messages.

Add a second interface only when a real need appears, such as phone access or a second agent.

Honest Risks To Know Before You Commit

My Agent OS runs on my own machine, so my home internet is the speed limit when I'm travelling.

A power cut at home means waiting until it is back.

Herald OS is an alpha from one independent developer, so I would not build a client process that depends on it yet.

Hermes3D is unofficial and I have not tested it, so treat my notes on it as a summary of its README.

Community tools change quickly, which means somebody on your team has to keep them updated.

The Memory page can show private details, and I spotted my own Telegram details in mine while recording.

None of these are reasons to avoid Hermes, and they are simply what I'd want an owner to know on day one.
